Australia Skilled Nominated / Sponsored – 491 Visa

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491) is a points-based visa category for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency or sponsored by an eligible family member to live and work in a designated regional area of Australia for up to five years.

Eligibility Criteria for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491)

  • Age: You must be under the age of 45 at the time of application.
  • Occupation:Your occupation must be listed on the relevant Skilled Occupations List (SOL) or the Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL). You must have a suitable skills assessment in your nominated occupation.
  • English Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate English language proficiency by taking an approved English language test such as IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE. You need to score a minimum of 6.0 in each band of IELTS or equivalent in other tests.
  • Points Test: You must score a minimum of 65 points on the Australian immigration points test. Points are awarded based on factors such as age, education, work experience, English language proficiency, and other relevant criteria.
  • Nomination or Sponsorship: You must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency or sponsored by an eligible family member who is a permanent resident or citizen of Australia and lives in a designated regional area.
  • Health and Character Requirements: You must meet the health and character requirements set by the Australian government. You must undergo a medical examination and obtain a police clearance certificate from each country you have lived in for more than 12 months over the past ten years.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect, the Australian government's online system for skilled migration. Once you have submitted an EOI, you will be ranked based on your points score and other factors such as your nominated occupation and the demand for your skills in Australia. If you are selected, you will receive an invitation to apply for the subclass 491 visa.

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491) is designed to encourage skilled workers to live and work in designated regional areas of Australia. The visa allows holders to live and work in Australia for up to five years and may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through the subclass 191 visa after meeting the residency and employment criteria.
