- Excludes trades, machinery operators, and laborers (ANZSCO Major Groups 3, 7, and 8).

- Priority Processing timeline of approx 7-10 working days
2. Core Skills Stream:
- For occupations listed on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), which includes 456 critical roles across sectors like healthcare, education, construction, and cybersecurity.
- Requires a minimum salary of AUD 73,150 (aligned with the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold).
- Processing Timeline: Approx 21 working days
3. Labour Agreement Stream:
- For roles under bespoke agreements between employers and the Australian government.
- Focuses on niche industries or regional workforce needs.
Reduced Work Experience Requirement:
Applicants need one year of relevant work experience (full-time or equivalent part-time/casual) within the last five years, compared to the previous two-year requirement under the TSS visa.
Pathways to Permanent Residency:
SID visa holders can transition to permanent residency through the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream of the Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme after two years of employment in Australia (reduced from three years).
English Language Requirements:
Applicants must achieve an IELTS score of 5.0 in all bands or equivalent in other approved tests.
Income Thresholds:
- Specialist Skills Stream: AUD 135,000+ annually.
- Core Skills Stream: AUD 73,150+ annually.
- These thresholds will be indexed annually starting 1 July 2025.
Enhanced Mobility for Visa Holders:
- SID visa holders can change employers without affecting their visa status, provided the new role meets eligibility criteria.
- They are allowed up to 180 days per instance (or a total of 365 days during the visa period) to find a new sponsor or apply for another visa.
Consolidated Occupation List:
The Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) replaces the previous TSS visa occupation lists, consolidating 456 roles and adding 70 new occupations in critical industries.
Visa Duration:
SID visas are granted for up to four years.
Visa Application & other costs and charges (VAC):
- Main applicant: AUD 3,115.
- Secondary applicants (18+): AUD 3,115.
- Secondary applicants (under 18): AUD 780.
- Skill Assessment Fees: Approx AUD 2500
- Other than all of above costs towards IELTS exam fees, Medical and Police Clearance are also incurred in this process
