Acceptance of 4 New English Language Tests for Canada SDS Visas

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced a major upgrade for SDS applicants. IRCC will accept four new language examinations starting August 10, 2023. This recent reform will allow more international students to apply for Canadian study permits and provide more flexibility.

PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, CELPIP General, and CAEL are now qualified. These exams will provide an alternative for the IELTS General and Academic. IRCC hopes this proactive decision would provide students additional possibilities and ensure a fair and inclusive application process.

SDS applicants must show proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. All four examinations address these English language skills.

All four tests have minimal scores for SDS eligibility. The prerequisites.

PTE Academic scores must be at least 60.
TOEFL iBT requires 83.
CELPIP General tests must meet the Canadian Language Benchmark of 7 in each of the four language-speaking abilities.
CAEL scores must be at least 60.
SDS applicants cannot take these tests online or remotely proctored. This verifies the language proficiency test.

Canada's Student Direct Stream expedites study visas for certain nations, including India. Legal residents of SDS nations can use this expedited approach. All SDS study permit applications are processed in 20 days, allowing eligible students to start their Canadian studies faster.

This IRCC change is making study permit applications more inclusive and accessible for prospective students.

Aspiring students should investigate the newly eligible language exams and choose the one that best suits their talents and abilities since these test results will be accepted starting August 10, 2023.
