UK Tightening Immigration Rules

The UK aims to curtail the number of people entering its country by approximately 300,000.


Salary threshold increase for skilled workers:

The minimum salary threshold for UK skilled worker visas will increase from £26,200 to £38,700 per year, with health and care workers exempted

Shift from shortage occupation list (SOL):

The government plans to replace the existing Shortage Occupation List (SOL) with an immigration Salary List. This will eliminate the 20% discount to the minimum salary for roles in shortage occupations

Dependant restrictions for postgraduates:

Foreign postgraduate students on non-research courses will no longer be able to bring family members to the UK.

Review of Graduate Visa:

The Graduate Visa which allows international graduates to stay in the UK for an additional two years post-study is currently under review.
