Australia’s Migration Overhaul: Higher Language Standards and Stricter Tests for international Students on the cards

Australia is committed to reducing its net annual migration from a record high of 510,000 within the next two years.


Elevated language requirements:

English language requirements for student and temporary graduate visas will be raised starting early next year.

Ensuring genuine intent:

A genuine student test will be introduced to all international students to ensure the majority returns to their home countries after completing their studies.

Risk-based processing:

Student visas for low-risk providers will get faster approval while higher-risk providers will face slower processing

Faster visas for professionals:

Professionals earning a minimum of $135,000 per annum will benefit from expedited vice processing.
